Adhika Masik Durgashtami

Adhika Masik Durgashtami is the day of Durga when Durga is worshipped. Durga fast is the primary worship of this event, and it is arranged with the celebrations of Shukla Paksha. Mahashtmi has also related to it and is considered the most effective form of Durga Ashtami. There is the most famous festival of the Hindus named Shardiya Navratri, and its celebrations are also linked to it and considered the same as Durga Ashtami. 

Celebrations on Adhika Masik Durgashtami 

Fast activity is the central ritual worship of this event and is performed till the end of the day. A dancing ceremony is arranged in which women present dance to the Durga to make the Durga happy. The dancing act of this Ashtami is called Garba. All the celebrators wore new clothes and offered Puja to the Durga. Puja offered to the Durga on this day is called Astra Puja, performed in the Vishnu and Shiva temples in front of Goddess idols. 

Weapons worship and fasting on Adhika Masik Durgashtami

Weapons used by the Durga till the end of her life are worshipped with the Durga fast and Puja act. All the guns are taken in the temple along with the idols of Durga, and Puja is presented to them. As the Puja ritual ends, the fasting concluding time starts, and Satvik food is cooked by the women to break the fast. Before breaking fast, Bhajans and devotional songs in honor of Durga are recited. After the recitation ceremony, poor Puja and fasting performers are awarded the charity items like food and clothes.
