The Hindu festival celebrated in the holy month named Pausha is called Akhuratha Sankashtahara Chaturthi. The Vrat of this day is called Ganesha Vrat as it is dedicated to Ganesha. Most Akhuratha rituals on this festival are presented to Ganesha and various Ganesha forms like Ganpati. Durga Peetha is also worshipped on this gala in Ganesha temples. Celibacy has to be maintained while offering Ganesha prayers; otherwise, these would not be accepted.
Rules related to Vrat on Akhuratha Sankashtahara Chaturthi
- Vrat offering person has to offer Ganesha Puja to Ganesha idols after bathing.
- After Puja, he has to present the Naam Jaap activity before the Ganesha Idol.
- Old Ganesha followers recite OM Ganesha Manter, and Fruits are given to Ganesha.
- Till the end of Vrat, Vrat presenting person is not allowed to use Tobacco.
Ritualistic acts about Akhuratha Sankashtahara Chaturthi
Ganesha, along with its various forms like Durga Peetha, is worshipped on this day. Ganesha lovers come to Vishnu temple along Ganesha idols and present Puja to Ganesha. Before the event day, all the temples of India are decorated with Ganesha art, and new Ganesha idols are also placed in a few temples. Ganesha food like Luddo and other sweets are prepared for offering to Ganesha. In Charity activities related to Akhuratha, Satvik food is given to the poor, in which various food products are included, like Luddo, coconuts, and cooked rice. Tulsi Patra is also taken to the temple for the Puja act and for placing Ganesha food in it.
