Ashtami Rohini

The Festival on which the Hindus celebrate the birthday of Shri Krishna is called Ashtami Rohini. Shri Krishna is the avatar form of Vishnu, and he has powers relatable to Vishnu. There are various worships dedicated to Shri Krishna on this end; Shri Krishna Puja is important among those. This Festival is also named Janmashtami, and Krishna Paksha is related to it due to its celebrations on Krishna Paksha. Goods are appreciated, and the evils are discouraged after the Puja ceremony of this event. 

Celebrations related to Ashtami Rohini

• Fast is the important worship of this event which is dedicated to Vishnu. Bhagwad Gita is also worshipped, and worshipping Bhagwad Gita is called Chant Shlokas. Manders is decorated with the light of various colors, and Parwati arts are displayed on Mander walls. 
• Bhajans in honor of Krishna are recited in parks, and prayers are offered there. In addition, ladies cook Satvik food for Krishna and offer it to his idols in Krishna temples. As butter is considered the favorite food of Krishna, foods in which butter is mixed are made and also presented to Krishna idols. 
• A ceremony is arranged named Dahi Handi in which Krishna’s favorite food is enjoyed and taken by children. As Krishna idols are little and on this Festival, these little Krishna idols are called Makhan Choor. In the Dahi Handi ceremony, children take part and play with the idols of little Krishna.
