Atla Tadde

The event on which Gauri is worshipped is called Atla Tadde. This is the only event that women and girls especially celebrate. Married women perform these event rituals for their children’s long life, while unmarried women agree to marry someone. Other than it, most women worship Gauri to get her blessings. Thadiya related to this gala is called Ashwayuja Thadiya. In 2022, it was celebrated on the 12th of October. 

Significance of Atla Taddea

As I have already told you, it is specially arranged by women who are married and unmarried. Married women perform ritual acts on this day to fulfill their heart desires, like the long life of their family, like husband and children. Married arrange ritual acts and worship of this festival to marry those they love. In addition, Puja acts related to Gauri are performed for Gauri’s special blessings. 

Rituals performed on Atla Tadde

The girls and women who want to celebrate this day have to get up before sunrise and take Gauri baths in holy rivers like Ganga or Yamuna or their home baths. After the bath, they have to eat ritual food like Suddhi. Fasting women have to move to the temple to offer Puja to Gauri. Women decorate themselves and apply mehndi to their hands. Thoram is also taken to the temple for distributing it among all Gauri-worshipping women. The dish cooked at this festival is called Paltalikelu, consists of various vegetables, and is presented to the Gauri idol in Gauri Mander.
