Bhalachandra Sankashti Chaturthi is the festival day of Hindus on which Ganesha is worshipped. Dukh Harta is another name for Ganesha, and Hindus call him by this name on this Sankashti Chaturthi. Shiva is honored due to his resemblance with Ganesha. According to Hindus, Shiva is the Father of Ganesha, and one who offers worship to Shiva and Ganesha on this day is blessed with a life free of difficulties.
Bhalachandra Sankashti Chaturthi (Significance)
- There are various names of Ganesha with which he is worshipped on the various festivals. The Ganesha idol name adored on this Chaturthi is called Bhalachandra.
- The moon phase on which Chaturthi day is celebrated is called waning, and Paksha associated with it is called Krishna Paksha. Krishna Paksha is the main Paksha of Hindus due to its resemblance with Bhalachandra.
- By worshipping Ganesha on this day, the worshippers are blessed with prosperity and Ganesha wisdom. It is the day when Bhalachandra’s followers receive a good fortune from Ganesha.
- Shiva is worshipped in the Shiva temples on every Sankashti. The Shiva idols are wrapped in Yellow Sankashti dresses, and the fragrance is applied. Puja is the central ritual worship of Shiva on this Chaturthi day.
Rituals on Bhalachandra Sankashti Chaturthi
The fast-offering person cannot consume any cereals while offering Sankashti Vrat. The Mantra must be recited till the end of the fast in honor of Ganesha. As the Ganesha Chaturthi concludes, the idols will be again washed in Ganga. A Mantra related to this Sankashti named ‘Aum Bhalachandra’ will be recited more than 100 times while concluding the day. Charity activities will be arranged to get wealth blessings from Ganesha.
