January 14, 2023

Bhogi Pandigai

Bhogi Pandigai is an event arranged by Tamil speakers in various areas of southern india. In Tamil Nadu, all the family members move to the temple on the event day to offer Puja to the Bhogi Lord. The homes are adorned with the leaves of mango plants and various flowers. The Marigold flowers are predominantly used for home decoration at this festival. Last year, it was celebrated on the 13th of January. In 2023, it will happen on the 14th of January.

Bonfire lighting

The Bonfires are lit up on this event to get wealth and health from the Lord. The act of lighting up the Bonfire is called Bhogi Mantalu. According to the Tamil Indians, the Bonfire is the symbol of happiness. After lighting up the Bonfire, a few lighted bonfires are placed in the front of the home, and some are placed in the Temple front where the worship will be performed. Few people offer Puja to Shiva with these bonfires.

Vishnu Puja

The Bhogi foods are cooked before going to the temple of Vishnu. In the Bhogi foods, a mixture of rice and water is prepared and offered to God. Few people provide Puja to God by placing the bowls in God’s front. The Puja bowl must have the prepared mixture. As the people will gather, the puja will be started. After Puja, the Manters will be dedicated to Vishnu, and the event will end by distributing the Bhog Prasad.
