Bol Choth

Bol Choth is a Hindu event celebrated by the Gurjat people belonging to the Hindu community. The month of this festival observance is called Shravan, and Chaturthi, to which it belongs, is called Krishna Chaturthi. Before celebrations of this event, Nag Panchami is celebrated in India. The worship performed on Choth Day positively affects the health and life of the cows. 

Celebrations related to Bol Choth

  • The cows are taken to the temples, and cow worship is presented to them. People offer fast in honor of Mata Cow to receive her blessings. The worshipping ceremony of cows is arranged in the evening, and before cow rituals, cow worship is presented to Vishnu.
  • Fast named Mata Fast, is presented to Cow for her blessings. Mata Fast has an excellent effect on an offering person’s life. The Mata fasting person receives salvation and prosperity from her, and his life is filled with happiness. In addition, Choth fast also adds to the wealth of the fasting person.
  • The Choth fasting person can eat the milky products or drink milk at the end of Choth day. The fasting person has to present food to the Mata and Vishnu in the Mander. Before offering milky foods to the Mata, special prayers will be dedicated to both Mata and God. 
  • This event is also named Bahula Chaturthi in a few states of India, especially in Madhya Pradesh. The celebrations of Madhiya Pradesh people are also different from the celebration of this event in other Indian states.
