Chaitra Navratri

Chaitra Navratri is a festival celebrated by a few Hindus due to its complex activities and worship. During this event, there are 9 Gods of Hindus that are worshipped one by one on this festival. A total of 9 days are fixed for this event as the Poja of Lord is offered on nine days. Pratipada is the first God that is worshipped, Brahmacharini is the second God that is worshipped on the second day, Chandraghanta is the third God of Hindus whose Poja is offered by the Hindus, Kushmanda is the fourth God that is worshipped on this festival day, Skandamata is fifth God that is worshipped on Chaitra Navratri, Katyayani is sixthly worshipped God, Kaalratri is seventh God for which prayers are offered, Mahagauri is eighth God that is worshipped on the eighth day of Chaitra Navratri, Siddhidhatri is ninth God that is worshipped on last day of Chaitra Navratri festival. Certain food items are not allowed to take during the Chaitra Navratri festival. Alcohol cannot be used these days. During Chaitra Navratri days, prayers are also offered to a few goddesses. The temples are decorated with yellow flowers at this festival.

In 2023, it will be celebrated in April. The date is also fixed for the Chaitra Navratri festival on the 2nd of April. It will be ended on the 11th of April in April. 

Puja details on Chaitra Navratri festival

Different Gods and Goddesses on Chaitra Navratri are worshipped on respective days. The detail of dates on which each Lord idol is worshipped is given below

  • On the 2nd of April, the Puja of Maa Shailputri is performed
  • On the 3rd of April, the Puja of Maa Brahmacharini is executed
  • On the 4th of April, the Puja of Maa Chandraghanta is done 
  • On the 5th of April, the Puja of Maa Kushmanda is fulfilled
  • On the 6th of April, the Puja of Maa Skandmata is achieved 
  • On the 7th of April, the Poja of Maa Katyayani is implemented
  • On the 8th of April, the Poja Maa Kalratri is worked
  • On the 9th of April, the Puja of Maa Mahagauri is completed
  • On the 10th of April, the Puja of Maa Siddhidatri is brought off
