Chingam Sankramam

Chingam Sankramam is the Hindu festival that marks the new year according to the Malayalam calendar. A new year of the Malayalam calendar is called Alamanc, whose start is celebrated on the first of Chingam. On this festival, sun transition is noticed as the sun moves from one Rashi and enters the other. Rashi, from which the sun moves to join another, is called Karka Rashi. Karka Rashi is also called Karkidakam Rashi, and the Rashi in which the sun enters is called Chingam Rashi. Chingam Rashi is also called Simha Rashi. 

Onam festival celerbations on Chingam Sankramam

Festival celebrations related to Chingam month are called the Onam festival celebrations are associated with this event. Onam is among those festivals of Chingam month which are extensively arranged on Chingam. Onam worships to God is presented, and last year, Onam celebrations pictures were displayed in the temples as a decorating and celebration of the event. Few people offer Onam fast on this day.
