Devshayani Ekadashi is the most celebrated Ekadashi among all Hindus Ekadashis and is also called Shayani Ekadashi. In 2022, it was celebrated on the 10th of July; in 2023, it will be arranged on the 29th of June. It is related to the sleep of Vishnu as Vishnu sleeps on one Ekadashi and awake on the other. On this Ekadashi, Milk is offered to him and considered Vishnu will awake on this festival day; due to this act, it is also named Shayani Ekadashi.
Routine acts on Devshayani Ekadashi
- Shree Yantra idols are placed at the top of Vishnu Mander, and vermilion is offered to him. Sweets are presented to God as Prasad, and Puja persons are allowed to use them after the Puja act.
- Tulsi Patra is considered the favourite food of Vishnu, and it is necessary to offer him on this day; otherwise, all worship will get wasted and would not be accepted by God on this special event day.
- After the Parana ceremonial activity of the day, the fast is concluded, and the fast-offering person uses rice as food while breaking the fast. Potatoes are used as Satvik food and given to poor fasting people.
Manter singing on Devshayani Ekadashi
Vishnu Mantras are recited on this day by Puja offering person and fasting person. People gathered in the temple to sing Vishnu Manters. As a result of this activity, the unmarried attendees got married while married and were blessed with Vishnu wealth. Religious people wrote fresh Manters on Vishnu and presented those written lines in a temple for singing them on this day. Manter writers are also blessed, and Vishnu forgives their sins.
