Dhanu Sankranti

Dhanu Sankranti is a festival celebrated based on the Sun’s entry. The sun sign is named Sagittarius, and the Sun enters this sign on the day of the event. The God that is worshipped on this day is Sun. the Sun is the most powerful God among all Gods, according to the beliefs of Hindus. This event is also celebrated to recognize that Dhanur Maas is started. There is the beginning of the Maas when Dhanu Sankranti is celebrated. All the arrangements are made to celebrate the welcome of Maas. All the Dhanu Sankranti worships are also dedicated to the Sun and are offered on this great day. 

Enjoyments on Dhanu Sankranti

The works that are done on Dhanu Sankranti are the visits that have been done on this great day. The visits first visit the holy rivers. All the people go to the holy river where the baths are taken along the river edge corner. Special spiritual worship is performed on this day at the river edge, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. After the worship related to Lord Vishnu, the Sun God worships are started. The worship offered to the Sun God is the prayers and fasts, while the worship offered to the Sun is Puja. The sun Puja is offered in an open place where the whole light is present. In addition, the foods and the decorations that are dedicated to the day are also finished on Dhanu Sankranti.

Dhanu Sankranti Ceremony

Special water is prepared in front of the temples during the festival ceremony. While preparing the water, sugar and Desi ghee are mixed in it. This water is not taken by the people in the temple but is offered to the God named Suraya while offering Puja to it. The Vishnu Sahasranaam is recited on this day, and all the recitation is offered to the Vishnu. The time the water is offered to the Sun is Sunrise. Special foods are also offered to people who cannot work and are poor on Dhanu Sankranti day.
