Durga Ashtami

As you know, various Tithi activities are performed during different festivals. In this way, the festival celebrated when the Ashtami Tithi celebrations are being conducted is named Durga Ashtami. The other name used in place of Durga Ashtami is Maha Ashtami. Last year, in 2023, it was celebrated on the 3rd of October. All the celebrations of the day are related to the various Gods, especially God Vishnu and the relative of the God Vishnu, named Parwati.
Arrangements for Durga Ashtami
Diya with Desi Ghee
A particular type of Diya is lit up on this day. The material added in that Diya consists of pure Desi ghee. Various kinds of flowers are also added to the Diyas. In addition, the powder of the tulsi leaves is mixed with the oil added to the Diya.
Satvik Food
The Food prepared on Durga Ashtami is named Satvik Food, prepared on the morning of the event. Various materials are also concluded in that Satvik Food like the Chana. The Halwa and the Pooris are also ready and enriched with desi ghee.
Coconut Breaking Ceremony
There is a coconut-breaking ceremony that is also performed on this day. This ceremony is celebrated on the evening of the day. Unique coconuts are taken from the coconut market and offered to God before breaking. The day when the coconuts are broken is named Kanya Pujan.
Unique Gifts
Gifts are also given to each other on these days. One can gift to the other for seeking its blessings. In addition to this, there are unique gifts that are offered to the Lord. The Lord to which the Gifts are provided on this day is named Krishna. The people also suggest the Dakshina to each other.
Feet Touching Ceremony
To seek the blessings of God, the seeker has to touch the feet of the idol of God. For this purpose, a special ceremony is arranged that is named a Feet touching ceremony. All the persons gathered in the temple and the feet of the temple are got clear for the emotional ceremony.
Donations
Food and new clothes are donated to the poor. Fresh fruits are taken from the bazaars and contribute to the poor. In addition, cooked foods are also prepared on this day to donate to the poor. Dresses for needy people are bought and arrive in the MANDER one day before the event.
