Dussehra

At the Navratri end, the Dussehra is celebrated in India by Indians. The other name that is used in place of Dussehra is Vijayadashami. Lord of the Hindus, whose name is Rama, is worshipped on Dussehra. According to the Hindus, there were wars in which the Rama participated, and their team won the battle. Dussehra event is celebrated with excellent arrangements that are also related to luck to celebrate the great victory of the Rama. The great triumph of the Rama was celebrated by arranging a party in which the swords were used to enjoy the party. In 2022, Dussehra was celebrated on the 5th of October. 

Different names of the Dussehra

There are different names for the Dussehra, which is called in other regions. 

  • In the areas of east India, it is named Vijayadashami. 
  • In the areas of the western states of India, it is called Dussehra.

Works done on Dussehra

Rama Puja

There is the grand Puja of Rama that is performed on Dussehra. For the Puja purpose, the Rama idols are prepared by the people celebrating the event. There are unlimited swords that are taken from the bazaar. The small blades are added to the standards of Rama, which adds to the beauty of the Idol as it is the event in which the victory of the Rama is celebrated. There are special dresses related to the suits worn during the wars that are prepared to wear on the day of Dussehra. The Puja offered to the Rama is also provided by wearing those wardresses. The Puja offered to the Rama adds to the good of the person, the Rama feels happy, and the person’s luck is turned into bright fortune with the blessings of the Rama. 

Rama Stories

 The Stories of the Rama are recited in the Mander. The Durga is the Goddess that had also taken part in the wars with the Rama, so she is also worshipped on this day. The Rama stories are critical to listen to as these are part of the Dussehra festival. There are great rewards that the Durga gives due to its Puja. The Durga idols are immersed in the water of the Ganga. After engaging the Durga idols, these are taken to the main temple where Puja is performed. For this purpose, the Durga Bowls are used. The Rama Stories listen till the end of the festival. In the old times, these were recited by the people of the Mander, but nowadays, they are played on the speakers till the end of the carnival. In addition to Rama and Durga, other Gods like Vishnu are also worshipped on Dussehra.
