Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi

Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi is the Chaturthi gala celebrated for Ganesha. Prayers are offered to Ganesha from the start till the end of Chaturthi. Moon phase may be waning or waxing when it is arranged. According to Hindu scriptures, this Chaturthi day is celebrated like Vinayaka Chaturthi. Vrat is also offered on this Chaturthi named Sankashti Vrat, and the Vrat offering person has to stay in the temple till the end of Vrat.
Rituals associated with Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi
- Ganesha idols are followed at this gala. So they are decorated with Durva grass and new clothes. After decorating them, they are taken to the temple to offer to worship them.
- Worships like Durva Putra have been presented to Ganesha in temples while Katha recitation. The Katha recitation person has to recite Katha from the written script for exact recitation.
- Diyas are added to the idols’ shoulders to light them on this Sankashti day. Desi Ghee is added to the Diyas and lit before Puja rituals as the day starts.
Celebrations on Dwijapriya Sankashti Chaturthi
There are two kinds of fasts presented to Ganesha. One fast is called Partial fast, while the other is called Strcit fast. In a Strict fast, the fasting person cannot consume fruits till the end of Vrat, while in the partial kind of Vrat, the fasting person is allowed to use fruits and water while Vrat. The Puja Vithi will be performed as the Moon appears. Before the Moon’s appearance, Moon Katha will be recited as worship of the Moon. Modaks are also made on this Chaturthi, given to the deservers as a charity product, and used for breaking fast.
