Govatsa Dwadashi

Govatsa Dwadashi is the event of the Hindus when the religious peoples perform the worship of the Cow. The God worshipped on Govatsa Dwadashi day is the Cow. The fast offered is also related to the Cow. There are food products that are also presented to the cows. The cows are decorated on this day, and unique protocols for all cows are given. No one can eat the meat of the cows on this day. There is particular respect for the cows’ milk at the Govatsa Dwadashi event. The Vrat offered to the cows on Govatsa Dwadashi is named Nandini Vrat. The Dewali is also celebrated on this day as different celebrations of the Dewali are observed in India. Govatsa Dwadashi is designated as the day when the Diwali days started.

Cows decoration

A function is held at this event in which the cows are decorated. The people prepare unique garlands and take them to the Mander, where the cows are already present. The one-one wreath is given to each Cow. After this, the food was presented to the Cow named cow food. The flowers used while making the garlands for the cows are fresh red flowers. A small quantity of yellow leaves is also used in the bouquets to add to the garlands’ beauty. A unique Mala is prepared for the cows that are presented to the cows after offering Puja to them.

Cows Puja

The Puja is offered to the cows on Govatsa Dwadashi. For this purpose, the cows are taken to the temple after decorating them. There are the new cups that are used while Puja to the cows. The old cups used last year for offering the Puja to the cows are broken in the Mander by putting them under the feet of the Cow. The Puja activity contributed to the cows differs from the Puja provided to the other Lords. All the cows are worshipped one by one, and after the Puja, they are returned to their homes and prepared again for offering Puja to them. For preparing them, special foods are prepared that are provided to the cows to improve their health. Improving cow health means improving the whole Indian community according to the thoughts of the Indians.
