Gowri Habba

The festival of Hindus arranged in honor of Gauri is called Gowri Habba. This day is also celebrated as the birthday of Gauri, and celebrations related to birthdays are set on this festival. It is observed only in India but in a few cities, mainly Andhra Pradesh. In 2022, it was celebrated on the 30th of August, but in 2023, it will be set on the 18th of September according to the gregorian calendar. 

Significant lines about Gowri Habba

This festival is dedicated to Gauri, so the worship of this day is also offered to Gauri. Women present most worship as it is the day a goddess named Gauri gives birth. The women who are married offer Vrat to Gauri for her blessings. Other than Gauri, Lakshmi and Shiva is also worshipped on this day due to their relation with Gauri. Mostly offered worship to them are fasts and Puja along with prayers. 

Ritualistic acts related to Gowri Habba

Worshipper women have to get up in the morning and take a Gauri bath in their private baths. After taking a bath, they have to decorate the idols of Gauri with a unique dress named Saree. In the recitation ceremony of the festival, Gauri Katha will be recited in the Gauri temple, and Bhog will be divided among the Katha offering person. Women who will present Vrat to Gauri have to offer prayers to Gauri and break Gauri’s fast with fruits and various milky products.
