Itavam Sankramam

Itavam Sankramam is also called Vrishabha Sankranti and is celebrated to welcome the second month of the solar calendar of Hindus. There are various activities performed at this festival. Among those activities, the most performed activity is Dan Punya. Rituals related to this event are presented for a specific time, and only a few moments before the start of the event and after the event celebration is considered best for performing the event rituals. 

Dan Punya Actvities on Itavam Sankramam

Dan Punya’s acts are considered auspicious for this day as during these actives, Mata named Gow Mata is worshipped, and various gifts are presented to him. People offer colored clothes to Mata and decorate Mata idols with different colorful dresses. For offering Puja to Mata named Godan, Puja bowls are decorated with the Tusi leaves, and Mata food called grass is placed in it. A few Puja people place milk in bowls to offer it to Mata while Gow Mata Puja. 

Homes and temples decoration on Itavam Sankramam

Homes and temples are decorated with the arts of Mata as Mata arts are displayed on the houses and Mander walls. The doorstep of the Mander and celebrator’s home are washed with holy water as a religious festival activity. Flowers and yellow color dresses are presented to Mata as gifts, and Mata is adorned with various ornaments and yellow flower garlands. In addition, Kheer is made with Mata milk and given to all Mata worshippers.
