April 1, 2023 @ 1:28 am - April 2, 2023 @ 3:49 am IST
Kamada Ekadashi is the first of the many Ekadashis celebrated by Hindus. It is preceded by Chaitra Navratri and Rama Navami. The primary observance of this day is the Kamada fast, which begins on the day of the festival and concludes the following day. By observing this fast, one can absolve themselves of their sins and be protected from the malefic effects of the planets.
Importance of Kamada Ekadashi
This day holds great significance in Hinduism as it helps the worshipper attain a peaceful mind and eliminate evil deeds from their life. Additionally, the sins of their ancestors are also absolved, and all their wishes are fulfilled with the grace of God.
The Kamada fast lasts for 24 hours and involves consuming only certain food items, with Moong Daal being a prominent one. Before starting the fast, the devotee takes a holy bath in a sacred river. The Narayan Katha is recited in Shiva temples, while songs related to Vishnu are sung in Vishnu temples.
Fast on Kamada Ekadashi
According to ancient Indian beliefs, those who observe the Kamada fast will have their wishes granted by the divine power of Ekadashi. This fast is dedicated to Lord Krishna, and it is considered an act of devotion and surrender to God.
