Karkatakam Sankramam

Karkatakam Sankramam is the festival celebrated by Hindus in india. On this event day, the Sun moves from one Rashi to the other, and the Rashi in which Sun enters is called Karka Rashi. This day marks the journey of the Sun, and this journey of the Sun is called Dakshinayana. Donation activity is essential at this festival as donating clothes and food products is necessary to fulfill wishes. 

Rituals performed on Karkatakam Sankramam

1. Sun worshippers take baths at midnight or before Sun rises, which has a significant impact on the life of a bath taker as one who takes a bath on this festival morning, his all sins, whether these were committed in the past or present, are cleared by Vishnu God due to Sun blessings. For ancestors, prayers are offered to Vishnu and Sun, and they bless them with salvation. 
2. Vishnu temples are specially decorated for this event, and worship related to Vishnu is performed. Stotaram, named Vishnu Sahsra, is presented to Vishnu to get Vishnu’s blessings. After the event rituals, people come to an open ground where various food products like grains are fed to all the Brahmins.
3. Worships about Sun are performed in the evening when it is at its peak. Sun foods are prepared from the yield of crops yielded at the event day and presented to Sun for his blessings. In addition, Charity activity is also arranged in which various items, especially new clothes, are distributed among deserves.
