Karthigai Deepam 27 November

Karthigai Deepam is the Tamil Hindu festival arranged in the month named Karthigai. The sun shows movement on this day and enters the stars. The prominent star to whom the sun enters is named Krittka. The lead the sun enters is called Krittka, according to the Indian Tamils. But in the language of astronomy, it is named Alcyone. This star is honored at this festival and considered the most bright star among all the stars.

The event is dedicated to the Shiva God. Other than Shiva, the Muruga God is also worshipped on this day. For the worship ceremonies, the temples are decorated, and the lights are placed on the doorsteps. Few offer a Diya lit with fresh desi Ghee to show more spirituality. The Holy places are also decorated with Diyas and lights. Shining Diyas on the home front removes all the evil eyes from the family members and finishes all the negativities. At the same time, the Diyas are placed in the temples to show spirituality. 

Rituals linked to Karthigai Deepam

On the event day, the homes are adorned with the unique art of Shiva. The Arts of the Shiva are also placed out of the house on walls. Celebrators wear new religious dresses to increase the event’s importance and make the Lord happy. The doorsteps are decorated with various drawings. In addition, people go to the temples to offer event Puja to the God they love. In addition, the Satvik foods are cooked in the temples and distributed among the family members and Puja offering persons.
