Kurmavathara Dinam

The Hindu festival celebrated as the birthday of Vishnu is called Kurmavathara Dinam. According to the older adults of india, this was the day Vishnu came to the earth and took his first breath. In 2023, Vishnu’s birthday ceremony will be arranged on the 5th of May and Tithi related to this festival is called Purnima Tithi. Puja is offered to Vishnu in the Vishnu temples, and for this purpose, Temples are decorated one day before the event and Vishnu idols are washed with temple water or holy rivers water. Vishnu form, named Kurma, is also worshipped at this festival.

Celebrations on Kurmavathara Dinam

Event celebrations start with the celebrator bathing act in Ganga or Yamuna; after bathing, celebrators have to move to the Vishnu temple to offer Puja to him. While offering Puja to Vishnu, Vishnu Manters, written in honour of Kurma, are also recited in Vishnu Manders. Women and children wore new dresses, and women presented ornaments to Gods for their blessings. At the end of Puja, Vishnu Bhog is given to Puja persons. 

Significance of celebrating Kurmavathara Dinam

This day is best for the Vishnu blessings like salvation and sins clearance. One who offers Puja to Vishnu on this event day is blessed with salvation for himself and his ancestors. Vishnu gives him a place in his room named Moksha. The lives of worshippers before and after death are blessed with Vishnu blessings. Due to charity acts, charity act performers receive wealth blessings from Vishnu.
