Malayalam New Year

Malayalam New Year is the festival celebrated to mark the new year according to the Malayalam calendar. Celebrations of this event are arranged in the Kerala temple, and Visnu idols are placed there. It is also called the Chingam event and shows the sun’s transition from one Rashi to another. The movement of the sun from the Rashi to enter the other is called Karka Rashi, and the Rashi in which the sun enters is named Chingam Rashi.
Kerala temple decorations on Malayalam New Year
Kerala temples are decorated with Vishnu idols and Onam, last year’s celebrations arts. Event celebrations reached in Kerala temple before sunrise for offering Puja to Vishnu and celebrating Onam event. Onam event is also related to it as it is arranged in the month named Chingam, like Malayalam New Year day. Idols of Vishnu are adorned with yellow flower garlands, and new Vishnu dresses are wrapped around him. At the end of Vishnu Puja, Satvik food is distributed among Vishnu Puja performers for Vishnu blessings.
Sun Puja on Malayalam New Year
As the sun moves from one Rashi to the other and blesses his worshippers with his blessings, he is worshipped on this day with Sun Puja activity. For offering Puja to the sun, people come to the ground in the evening after saying Sun prayers in the Vishu temples. A few Puja performers placed Tulsi seeds in the Tulsi Patra and presented them to Vishnu as thanks for his blessings. In the end, prayers are offered for salvation to the sun, and at night, fireworks take place in new year’s happiness.
