April 11, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm IST
The Festival on which the Matysa followers celebrate the birthday of Matsya is called Matsyavathara Dinam. Matysa is another form of Vishnu, also called the Avatar of Vishnu. Matysa was born on the Satya Yuga cycle, and at every Satya Yuga cycle each year, this Festival is celebrated as the birthday of Matysa. There are independent Manders of Matya, but his idols are taken to the temples of any God for offering Puja to him.
Matysa Puja in Vishnu temples on Matsyavathara Dinam
On this Festival, Puja is presented to Matysa in the Vishnu Manders. All followers of Matysa move to the temple of Vishnu along with Matysa idols. Idols are decorated before their Puja with flowers and clothes. People make Garlands for Matysa and offer them to him on festival day. Tulsi leaves are used while presenting Puja, and Tulsi seeds are placed in them. Due to the birthday celebrations, this Festival is also called Matysa birthday.
Celebrations on Matsyavathara Dinam
Matysa idols are made by Matysa followers before the Festival and taken to the Vishnu temples on the event day. A Puja person bathes before offering Puja with the Vishnu temple water or Ganga water. After bathing, women celebrators cook food to present it to God as Puja food. This food is used for breaking the fast, and it is also divided among the people in the temple. As the day ended, Matysa donations took place, and various charity products were offered to Poors.
