Cow Mata decoration
People living in Tamil Nadu decorate the cows specially and take them to the temple where they are worshipped. Before starting the decoration, they are taken to the holy rivers, where they take holy baths. After bathing, cows are brought to the decoration home, adorned with various items. For the cow’s decoration, flowers are taken from the Tamil Nadu flower market, and the garlands are made from those flowers. Cows also wear dresses of various colours. Puja and prayers are offered to the Cow Mata in the temple on festival day.
How Puja is offered to Cow Mata on Mattu Pongal
After full cow decoration, they are taken to the temples and placed at the top place in Mander. The Mata cups are washed, and the Satvik foods are added. The Mata songs are played first for offering Puja, and Manters related to the Mata are also recited. For offering Puja, take Mata cups in hand and start the Puja. For the Mata blessings, you have to offer Puja for more than three hours, and after Puja, divide Mata food among people present in front of the Mata. If you have artificial Mata, take it home and place it at the top home place by wrapping it in holy clothes. In this way, the Mata festival will go to an end.
