Parashurama Jayanthi

Parashurama Jayanthi is the festival of Hindus arranged in respect of Parashurama. Parashurama is also a God of the Hindus after the primary Vishnu God. There are various avatars of Vishnu, and each avatar has its importance. Parashurama is considered the fifth avatar form of the Vishnu and is worshipped with great devotion on this festival. The celebration day of this event is related to the celebrations of the event named Akshaya Tritiya.

Parashurama was the God who fought wars for the survival of Indians with the enemy God, and the weapon he used while fighting the war was Parsu. Parsu is considered the weapon same as an axe. When the Parashurama was born, time was Satya Yuga; he lived till the end of Yuga named Dwapara Yuga. This festival is celebrated only in some of India but is primarily arranged in Konkan areas in India.

As the worshipped God on this day is called Parashurama, so this festival worship is also presented to Parashurama as he is the avatar form of Vishnu. Temples of Vishnu are decorated with the Parashurama arts, and Diyas are lighted there. For the worship of Parashurama, people get together and offer Puja to him. Garlands made of white flowers were also presented to Parashurama before starting the Parashurama Puja act. Ultimately, the fast is broken with the Satvik food, and Parashurama awards fasting persons with happiness and salvation for their ancestors.
