Pongal

Pongal is a great festival that the people of southern India celebrate. It would help if you kept in mind that it is only celebrated by people living in Southern India, and other than people of southern India, they dont celebrate due to belief issues. Pongal is a word that was first obtained from specific literature named Tamil literature. If we want to understand the meaning of Pongal, then its meanings are in the sense of boiling or boiling. A dish is prepared for the Pongal festival that is liked by all people attending the Pongal festival. The name of the festival, which is Pongal also given based on this special dish. According to a Pongal festival, all Indians, especially southern Indian people, can follow the rules given by solar calendars. 

Celebration of Pongal

Last time, it was embraced on the 14th of January, and this time also celebrated on the 14th of January 2023. According to Pongal, the sun, whose motion was not properly before the Pongal festival, became proper and started to move in the North direction. In addition, this sun movement continues for more than six months. After all the motion in the north direction, it begins to start to move in the south direction, and the southern people get its highlight and celebrate Pongal each year on this day. 

How is Pongal important for southern Indians?

It has great importance for southern Indians due to its celebrations of more than three days. But mostly it is celebrated only for three days. There are good days segments in each day. These are listed below.

First day 

The first day of Pongal is also named Puja day as southern Indian people Puja their God by wearing proper and specific dresses. Before starting puja, they clean their body by taking a bath with proper instructions. Peddy cutting is also done on this day, and it is turned into a beautiful Peddy with that old look. Bhogi Pongal is also performed on the first day.

Second day

The second day is called a day of God. The God to whom all southern Indian people follow on this day is Surya. Southerners perform proper worship, and boiled egg is also given to the sun God with proper Jaggery. 

Third day

The third day is also the specific day in terms of Pongal. It is only Pongal day when cattle are worshiped. It can also be named cattle worship day. All castles get fresh as by bathing. 

Conclusions

By all these three days( first day, second day, and third day), Pongal day goes to completion. Cattle get fresh and start their new life as they are cleaned. In addition to this, all these three days add to the beauty of Pongal by God Puja and many more.
