Celebration points related to Raksha Bandhan

Some people refer to Raksha Bandhan as Brother’s Day, while others call it Sister’s Day. During the festival, brothers tie a white thread on their sister’s wrist, and sisters give gifts to their brothers in return. Couples also exchange gifts on this day.

In temples, a special ceremony called the Bandhan ceremony is held, during which red and white threads are tied to brothers by their sisters. The brother must offer prayers to Lord Vishnu, and then the sister ties the red thread on his arm to signify their bond. This ritual strengthens the relationship between brothers and sisters.

On Raksha Bandhan, some couples even choose to get married. Traditional food such as Poori with Tulsi is prepared, and new clothes are offered to Lord Vishnu as a gift. The Lord is decorated with flowers before the marriage ceremony, and garlands are offered after the first wedding ceremony of the day.
