Shani Trayodashi

Shani Trayodashi is a festival on which Shami is honoured, and all worship events are dedicated to him. There is a malefic effect caused due to the planet being removed by the worship on this day. One who offers prayers to Shani on event evening is blessed with mind comfort. People started new businesses, shifted to new homes at event night, and prayed for the ancestor’s forgiveness and salvation.

Shani prayers

Shani prayers are the main worship of this gala arranged in Shani temple in front of the Shani temple. If idols of Shani are absent in the temple, arts of Shani are prepared and displayed in front. After the prayer ritual, white foods are taken to the temple for division. This prayers act is performed for more than two hours, and Shani Manters are recited while this act. As a result of Shani prayers, the offering person’s ancestors are blessed with salvation, and the sins of both worshipper and worshipper ancestors are cleared. 

Shani Puja

After prayers, the Puja act is performed in Mander, called Shani Puja. People cook Satvik food and decorate Shani idols with garlands of yellow flowers. Satvik food is taken in hands while starting Puja. After Puja, sweets are distributed among all celebrators. According to a few people, it is also called Pradosham, and after the Puja act, Shani idols are taken to home. Special charity activities are also arranged on this day, where the crows are fed along dogs.
