Shivaratri

Shivaratri is an event celebrated in honor of Shiva. The main activity of this event is the Puja activity, performed in the temples of Shiva. The Lord is taken to the open ground for daytime Puja. The idols are decorated well with flowers and dresses of various colors. People offer new stitched, full-length dresses to Shiva as a gift and get unlimited SHIVA blessings from the friend God of Shiva. Lingam activity is dedicated to Shiva for their infinite blessings.

Celebration in Shiva Temple

There are various rituals performed in the Shiva temple on the event day. Among celebrations, the first is a bathing ceremony in the temple where the celebrator has to bathe to get Shiva’s blessings. After bathing, come directly to the Shiva idol room, where you have to perform Puja. After full-time Puja, divide the Shiva food among the Puja presenting persons. The sins of the Siva indoor worship offering person will also be cleared, due to which all people of the Tamil community celebrate it. 

Celebrations out of Shiva temple

Before coming to the event, the food was cooked, and the home decoration took place. The homes are decorated with light of various colors. The cooked foods for this day are called Shiva foods. In addition, the idol makers make the unique idols of Shiva. The new Idols are placed there, and the old ones are removed. The old released heroes are washed in the holy rivers and put in the temple place to worship on the festival that came on the following year. The charity activities of the festival also took place outside of the temple and were performed among the poor and deserved.
