Somavati Amavasya

Somavati Amavasya is an important festival among all the festivals of Hindus. It is different from other festivals of Hindus. Certain rituals of Somavati Amavasya are not present in the other festivals of the Hindus. The date and day of the festival in 2022 are different from the date and day of the festival in 2021 and 2023 due to the motion of the Goddess earth. In 2023, Somavati Amavasya will be celebrated in February. The date on which Somavati Amavasya will be celebrated has been fixed as 20th of February. It is said that there is no moon visibility on the day of the festival. In addition, the worship gods on Somavati Amavasya are Shiva and Parvati. 

Puja ceremony on Somavati Amavasya

Argya is a worship of the Gods named in place of Puja. The Argya is offered to God on the day of this festival. The God to which the Argya is delivered is called Sun God. There are doings of the Tarpan activities that are done for the salvation of the ancestors. Worships to the Peepal are also offered on this day by married women. The women provide it to gain the blessings of God for the children and their husbands. It is also said that the special worship of Lord Shiva has excellent effects on the moon. The weak moon is turned into the Strong moon.

This event is celebrated in honor of the ancestors. All the persons who have left this world are dedicated as they deserve the worship offered on Somavati Amavasya day. Specials are delivered to the ancestors, and the fastings are also provided for the ancestors. It is also observed that the fasting of Somavati Amavasya day leads to eternal peace with unlimited blessings. All problems involved in life are also solved due to fasting on Somavati Amavasya by Lord Shiva.
