Somvati Amas

Amavasya celebrated on Monday with great devotions by Hindus is called Somvati Amas. This day is also included in the holy and essential festival days. On this festival, people come to Shiva’s temples and offer Shiva prayers to him for Shiva’s blessings, and prayers are also provided to Shiva for salvation for his ancestors. Women from the Hindu religion present fast to Shiva and Parwati to get long life for their husbands and to bless their homes with Vishnu blessings.

• Shiva devotees must bathe and wear Shiva’s religious dress for worshipping Shiva. 
• The fast named Somvati Vrat is presented for Shiva blessings, and the Peepal tree is worshipped. 
• After offering Puja and more than 108 rounds to the Peepl tree, the red thread is tied by married women. 
• Shani Mantra will be recited after performing Shiva Puja in the Shiva temple. 
• After Shani worships, Vishnu idols are honored in the evening, and Puja is presented to him. 
• In the charity activities, new clothes and food products will be given to deservers and Vishnu idols.
