Subrahmanya Sashti

Subrahmanya Sashti is the Hindu event on which Subrahmanya God is worshipped. The Tithi related to this festival is called Shashti Tithi and is also celebrated on this day. The month in which the event’s celebrations are started is called MargaNargashirsha. It is not celebrated all over india. Mainly the people living in the southern parts of india arrange it with great devotion. Shiva is worshipped on this event, and devoted Puja is offered. 

Rituals performed on Subrahmanya Sashti

• The event celebrators take a bath after getting up at midnight. The river where the tub is taken is called Narmada, according to the Hindus. Few people move to the Ganga and Yamuna for the Holy bath. 
• The Puja is offered to Shiva and Murugan as both are prominent gods. To offer Puja to them, people light Desi Ghee Diya. Lighted Desi Ghee Diya is taken to the temples of the Murugan and Shiva, and Puja is provided to them by carrying Diya in their hands.
• There is a milk offering ceremony in which the milk is offered to the Subrahmanya. The fasting activity is also performed in honor of Subrahmanya, and the provided milk can be used as a drink when breaking the fast. 
• The Subrahmanya Prayers are offered to the Subrahmanya to get his blessings. The women are allowed to offer these prayers at their homes. But the makes are not permitted, so they come to the temple of Shiva and Murugan to offer prayers to the Subrahmanya. 
• At the event ends, charity activities are performed in which the charity products are donated to the deservers. People sang Subrahmanya songs in honor of Subrahmanya to get happiness from him.
