Thai Pusam

Thai Pusam is the festival of the Hindus of the Tamil community arranged in the month named Thai according to the Tamil calendar. This event is not specified for the Tamils of India but can be celebrated by all Tamil communities living in any part of the world. The event celebrations will be the same for all Tamils from india or other countries. The main activity of this festival is Poosam Nakshathram. The Tamils living in Tamil Nadu enjoy this event for more than ten days. Due to the ten days celebrations in Tamil Nadu, it is called Brahmusavam.
Celebratory points related to Thai Pusam
- The worshipped God of the day is called Murugan. The Manders, where Murugan idols are present, are washed for the event celebrations. It is open to those who will offer Puja to the Murugan. Other than the Murugan Puja offering persons, others cannot enter the temple.
- The fresh fruits are plucked from the trees, and a particular dish is prepared. The prepared dish is called the Murugan dish and is presented to the Murugan before offering his Puja.
- Murgan Vehicle is also decorated with peacock feathers. As the Murgan Vehicle is illustrated, it is taken to the temples to put the Murgan idol on it. While offering Puja, putting the Murgan on his Vehicle is necessary. Otherwise, Puja worship would not be accepted.
- Murugan God is essential from the desire fulfilment point. This is the God who fulfils every desire of the worship offering person. As a tribute to the work of God that he did during the excellent and evil war, this festival is honoured by the Tamil people.
