Thrissur Pooram

Thrissur Pooram is the grand festival of Hindus celebrated in Thrissur town of india. The month of this event celebration is called Malayalam, and it was the first time observed by Sakthan Thampuran. This festival is arranged in two forms, one form is called Kudamattom, and the other is called Panchavadyam. In Panchavadyam, the decorated elephants are presented to the people in open ground. While in Kudamattom, colourful celebrations took place.
Celebrations and information related to Thrissur Pooram
- On this festival, the Pooram activity is performed to the Gods after bathing. First, Pooram related to this day is arranged in Kanimangalam temples, while the second Pooram is in Vadakkumnathan temples.
- Goddesses are worshipped on this festival. Most first followed goddesses on this event belonged to Thiruvambadi, while the others belonged to Paramekkavu.
- Fireworks are performed on this day in honour of the goddess related to Thiruvambadi. People gathered in Thrissur town at night and presented works named fireworks, and after Fireworks, Puja Vithi, named Thrissur Puja, was performed.
- Elephants are decorated with yellow dresses and taken to open ground for reciting their Manters. It is said that when the reciter recites the Manters of elephant on this event, elephants dance with their elephant Manter recitation.
- Elephants stay in the open ground until the end of event day, and young children solute to them. At night, elephants are fed with fruits and taken to homes and fireworks are performed in the happiness of successful festival celebrations.
