Ugadi – Telugu New Year

Ugadi – Telugu New Year is a festival presented to welcome the new year of the Telugu calendar. In honor of this event, the related title dedicated to this event is Telugu new year. In 2022, it was arranged for the 2nd of April. If we search it in the calendar of the Hindus, it is celebrated in the month of Chaitra. The arrangements of this event are also related to the Gudi Padwa. It is arranged in the various states of india, predominantly north india. The old Ugadi traditions are applied to the temples for offering Puja. 

The tradition of Ugadi – Telugu New Year

The first and the central tradition of the celebration of the event is to wake up quickly on the event at 03:00 am. After awakening, the fast offering person off fast while the other people go to God to whom they worship, and offer Puja to him. The unique oil is applied to the head to fulfill the tradition. The name of the used oil is sesame oil, and applying this oil to the head is considered the religious activity of the day, named Abhyanga. The walls are painted, and door decoration takes place with the decoration item called Rangoli. 

Temples decoration on Ugadi – Telugu New Year

The doorstep of the temples is decorated with the leaves of the mango plant. The red flowers are applied to the Godhead for the beautiful look of the Lord. The Jasmine flowers are used to decorate the beautifully painted walls of the temple. The welcome ceremony is arranged to welcome newcomers to the temple. The fresh flowers are taken and showered on the newcomer. The Puja Bowls are also decorated with flowers and Rangoli. This way, the temples stay open after complete decoration, and Ugadi Puja is offered.
