Utpanna Ekadashi

Utpanna Ekadashi is an important Hindu festival that is also known as Upatti Ekadashi. It is celebrated in honor of Lord Vishnu, and devotees offer special prayers and observe fasts on this day. According to Hindu beliefs, those who observe the Vishnu prayers and fasts on Utpanna Ekadashi will be blessed with success in life. The festival falls in the month of Margashirsha, and last year it was celebrated on November 20th.

On the day of Utpanna Ekadashi, the Tithi activity starts at 10:29 am. It is observed in different months in different parts of India; in the north, it is celebrated in Margashirsha, while in other regions, it is observed in Kartik. In addition to Lord Vishnu, Mata, or the mother goddess, is also worshipped on this day. Mata is also known as Mata Ekadashi, and offering prayers to her is believed to absolve one of their past sins.

Works related to the Utpanna Ekadashi

Devotees offer Vishnu fasts on Utpanna Ekadashi, and there are rules for observing this fast. Those who observe the fast are not supposed to commit any sins during the fasting period. Garland offerings are made to Lord Vishnu in his temple, and the leaves used in the puja are typically Tulsi or banana leaves. Without leaves, the puja activity is not accepted by the deity to whom it is offered. Bhog prasad and fried potatoes are also offered to the god and distributed among the devotees who observe the Utpanna Ekadashi puja. A diya is also lit under the Tulsi plant as part of the rituals.
