Uttarayana is a Hindu event celebrated in various Indian states, especially Gujrat. On this festival, celebrations are enjoyed for more than two days, and its celebrations are the same as Makar Sankranti. For getting health and wealth from gods, this day is considered best. Worshipped God on this event is Suraya, and Sun followers offer Puja to him for getting his blessings and to pay thanks for his light. In addition, Sun is regarded as Vishnu, so he is also worshipped with Puja in his temples.
Kites flying on Uttarayana
Kites flying is the main ritual activity of this festival and is arranged with great devotion on open grounds. On this day, the celebrant gathered on the open floor and took kites with them after offering Puja to the Sun. Rush happened because every person flew his kite to enjoy this ceremony. Competitions are held there, and Guru sits on the ground to announce the winner. In this way, all kite flyers enjoy it by heart on this day.
Celebrations on Uttarayana
Various foods are cooked by Sun-follower women and taken to the temple for distribution among all celebrators. Bath is taken in Ganga water for Ganga blessings; after the bath, Puja is presented to Surya there. Jaggery and Till-made food items are distributed as Bhog Prasad after the Puja activity. Few people want salvation for their ancestors, so they offer prayers to the Sun after the sun Puja activity. In charity, Jaggery and new yellow clothes are given to deservers which result in wealth from Sun.
