Vamana Jayanthi

Vamana Jayanthi is a Hindu event arranged in respect of Vamana. This was the day Vamana took birth and blessed all the Hindus with his special blessings. Vamana is another form of Vishu but has less God power than Vishnu. In 2022, it was celebrated on the 7th of September. In 2023, it will be arranged on the 26th of September in Vishnu temples with great devotion. 

Rituals related to Vamana Jayanthi

• For Vamana worship, the worshipper has to take a Vamana bath in Ganga
• After bathing, come to Vishnu temple to offer prayers to Vishnu 
• Before prayers related to Vishnu, Vamana Puja will be performed. 
• For getting the top blessings of Vamana, present Vamana fast to him. 
• Diya and lamps are lit up in front of Vamana and Vishnu Idols. 
• In the recitation ceremony, Vishnu Sahasranama is recited in Manders. 
• While the Puja act, Vamana Katha will be offered to Vamana and Vishnu idols. 
• Vamana Bhog will be given to all Puja performers at the end of all rituals. 

Donation ceremony on Vamana Jayanthi

Rice is cooked and placed before Vaman’s idol to get charity blessings from him. People gathered in the Vishnu temple and decorated Vamana idols with flowers and new clothes. A few worshippers took Vamana idols to the Vishnu temple and placed them at its top. New Vamana idols can also be used as a charity product and given only to those with no Vamana idol. In return for this donation, Vamana blesses with his blessings to the donator.
