Vamana Jayanti

Vamana Jayanti is the Vishnu festival on which the Vishnu avatar named Vamana is worshipped, and his birthday is celebrated. Vamana was the fifth form of Vishnu, and after Vamana’s birthday, most people offered him worship. Tithi arrived on this Jayanti is called Dwadashi Tithi, and due to Dwadashi Tithi, it is also called Vamana Dwadashi. According to the Gregorian calendar, it will be arranged in September. 

Rituals performed on Vamana Jayanti

• The ritual person offers a fast to Vamana from morning to the end of the day. 
• Devoter got up at sunrise and went to Ganga for bathing and to wear new clothes 
• Idols are made with clay on which the Shape design of Vamana is displayed 
• After making the new idols, they are presented to the sun God to get them dry. 
• Katha, written about Vamana, is recited in the temples after Puja Vithi. 
• Women prepare the Prasad for offering it to the God idol and for breakfast
• In charity activities, the products made of milk are given to the poor 
• The fast category performed on this festival is called the Strict fast, as the fasting person cannot eat any food till the end of the fast time. 

Vamana Jayanti event celebrations 

The main activities performed on this Jayanti are Puja, Fasting, Mantra recitation, Katha recitation, Charity activities, Bhog distribution and idol decoration. Puja is presented to Vamana in the temple for his blessings. After the Puja, Mantra and Katha are recited by the Puja performers. Bhog is distributed among fasting people for breaking fast, and charity activities are performed for wealth blessings
