Vishu is a festival celebrated by the people of Kerala in India during the month of Medam in the Malayalam calendar. The festival is held to mark the arrival of the spring season and to remind people to begin the harvest of their crops. It is considered an auspicious occasion, bringing good luck and prosperity to those who celebrate it. In 2023, Vishu will be celebrated on April 15th.
Celebration of the event named Vishu
One of the main aspects of the Vishu celebration is the creation of a Vishu Kani, which is a symbolic representation of Lord Vishnu. The Vishu Kani is decorated with various items, such as coins, currency notes, and sometimes a golden cucumber.
Another activity during the festival is the bursting of firecrackers by children. They gather together and exchange sweets before enjoying this activity.

On the day of the festival, people also visit the Krishna temple to worship Lord Krishna along with Lord Vishnu. The idols of Lord Vishnu are placed in the temple one day before the festival, and a puja is performed for both deities.
Apart from the ritualistic activities, the festival also marks the beginning of the harvest season, and the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna are sought for a prosperous harvest.
